We all have seen a lot of game shows on television that allows participants to take into consideration opinion or help from the audience present in the show. Some of the shows, conferences, events, seminars, etc. allow audience to participate in the course of the event and vote for the discussion or session going on. Such participation in the event is facilitated by audience response system.
Response systems are the systems formed by electronic gadgets and helps creating interactivity between audiences and their host or presenter. A response system is supported by hand held wireless remote controls, a computer system and software programs that formulates result of the response by the audience and a receiver that receives and stores the response made by the audience. Such systems are also used in education sector and are popularly known as student response system there.
Students response systems help in creating an interactive environment in a classroom setting or could also be used in quiz competitions, debates, or voting for any issue. In a classroom setting, students are given with hand held remote controls or voting devices, called as clickers. Students can use the keypad of the remote controls to cast their vote or give their feedback for a question asked by the presenter or teacher. The response could be captured instantly and results are displayed onto the screen through a projector. The presenter’s computer is equipped with a software program that formulates the results and displays it in a bar graph. Response systems are playing a very important role today where education sector prefer learning through technology. A response system, thus, promotes learning with fun and makes the classroom session interesting and interactive. With such systems, students can learn quickly and would also take part in the proceedings of the class.
